Welcome to Squiggle and Bean!

Hello, my name is Kate and I would like to welcome you to my business: Squiggle and Bean!

Squiggle and Bean came to life on 29th April 2021, born from the business Katie Creates, where for five years I played around with different crafts and products, before settling on my favourite: crochet toys. And in the past two years this new business has flourished! Putting all my time and creativity into one medium has meant I have been able to improve the toys, and greatly increase the range.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. Born and raised in Brighton, I still live here with my husband and two children. Squiggle and Bean is named after them - the nicknames I gave them when pregnant. I began crafting when I was young and my Mum taught me to cross stitch. From there I have learnt to knit (albeit very slowly!), sew and crochet. I love reading, tea, football and Lego! We are Christians and attend a local church in Hove.
Alongside running a business I also work four days a week, so if your order is a little delayed it might be because I'm tired from busy days!
Here we are in Greenwich, where I went to uni all those years ago!

I love this business. It brings me so much joy to make these cuddly toys, to chose the yarn and colours, to make them come to life with cute facial expressions. I really enjoy introducing new toys, fairly regularly, to the range. At the moment there are 142 toys to choose from, and I already have plans for more! I use patterns from Theresa's Crochet Shop, One Funny Moose, Sweet Oddity Art and many more. Maybe one day I'll create my own patterns though...who knows?!

My favourite toy is Stan the Sloth. I just love sloths, they are so cute, and I think this cutie is the perfect cuddly toy:

All Squiggle and Bean toys are UKCA (formally CE) tested. Did you know that every toy sold to go through the vigorous UKCA testing process otherwise they are illegal? This is to ensure the toy is safe for newborns and children. If the toy doesn't have a UKCA tag, don't buy it! There will be no guarantee they have used materials which are chemical-free and safe for children, fire resistant or even that the seams are strong enough to withstand a tantrum. These are all tests that the Squiggle and Bean toys endure, and that means you can buy from me confidently.

Did you know that Squiggle and Bean is an award winning business? It was named Cuddly Toy Retailer of the Year 2022/2023 by Prestige Awards! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to received such an award, and it gives me great honour to put that on my logo, advertising, social media etc!
